Developmental Service Worker

The Developmental Service Worker Diploma Program uses small class sizes, group work, an off-site practicum and exercises in self-awareness to give you the tools you need to work with children, youth and adults who have developmental disabilities. You’ll learn to give clients support and offer encouragement while promoting their mental, emotional and physical health. Among the topics covered in the program are First Aid/CPR, Abnormal and Developmental Psychology, Teaching Strategies, Family Dynamics and an Introduction to Developmental Disabilities.

The off-site practicum gives you first-hand experience in the industry and allows you to exercise and perfect your newfound skills in an environment similar to those you’ll work in. Medix graduates of our Developmental Service Worker Diploma Program have found meaningful employment in a variety of related fields, including as Community Support Workers, Classroom Assistants, Family Support and Integration Facilitators, Counsellors and more!
